Boskoppie

Ideally situated in the middle of the Free State Province of South Africa, approximately 200 km southwest from Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport lays Boskoppie, a private game reserve with a classic bushveld atmosphere – situated on a rocky promontory surrounded by thorn trees.

Boskoppie was established in 1986 to provide a haven for the natural beauty within its borders.  The protection and conservation of the natural habitat and wildlife have always been a corner stone of the growth of this private game reserve.

The main attraction at Boskoppie is the carnivore breeding project which consists of 70 lions, tigers and jaguars.  Take a guided tour through the camps to view the lions and other carnivores in their natural habitat.  On Sundays you can share the excitement when the lions feed.

For bird-watchers there is a large assortment of bird-life.  An early morning walk would ensure spectacular photos.

Experience a spectacular Free State sunset with a sundowner in the cozy environment of the ladies bar or at the viewpoint to the lodge.

For nature lovers, the fauna and flora are varied and can be viewed either form the comfort of the cottages or in the veld itself.

Definitely a breakaway oasis where you can experience true Free State hospitality.  Extra care is taken to make a visit to Boskoppie a memorable experience.

Enjoy the unspoiled bushveld atmosphere of this private game reserve where the stress of everyday life melts away silently.  The thatched complex, lapa and pond provide privacy, peace and tranquility where friends and family can relax and unwind.

Guided tours are conducted frequently and will not only be an entertaining experience, but will emphasize the increasingly important role the private sector can play in the conservation of South Africa’s rare and endangered animal species.
